About the Artist

Matthew tends to fluctuate through many styles including: abstract expression, contemporary text art, and impressionism. In his more abstract and impressionistic works, Matthew focuses on simple forms and color structures to intentionally alter the viewer’s sense of perspective or reality; only looking to balance each choice of color or stroke with the next to come to a harmonious conclusion on the canvas. “I tend to overthink everyday life, tasks, or interactions with people but when painting, I can let go and just allow my subconscious to fill up the canvas. I hope that you see yourself in my paintings as much as you might try to see me.” His more contemporary compositions focus on a message to society as a whole, often addressing issues hiding in plain site or topics buried by westernized social norms of the modern day.
